Change of plans

No matter how hard you try, sometimes things just don't work out the way you've intended.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am going to have to delay my move to the UK for a few months. I'll still get there, but the timing hasn't been conducive to get this move underway. So I'm gonna take myself back home to San Francisco for a little while. My boss thankfully ok'd my transfer, so all I have to do is find a store to go to, and I'll be living with my old roommate Rob in Glen Park. So even though I am not doing exactly what I wanted, I'm still gonna be back home at least.

Not that I should bitch too much, it's really just an extended vacation then off to the UK. It's just not what I wanted to happen, but...maybe it's what I need. I am very happy to see my friends and family, especially since I didn't think that was going to happen. So I guess I'll just cool my jets for a bit there and then off again.

I should be home the last week of September if not before. Which is nice since I'll be back for Folsom Street Fair which is my favourite festival of the summer. Not to mention all the other fantastic aspects of living in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, as well as gay mecca, for that matter. As soon as more dates are known I'll post em.

PS there was no breakup just so it's known. Just a financial (and legal paperwork) delay.

Rants and Raves

One thing I will truly miss about Augusta is the local newspaper, the Augusta Chronicle. Not only is it really generally useless except to incite anger and outrage, on page 2 of the Metro section there is a sidebar entitled "Rants and Raves." This article is small, anonymous blurbs called or written in from you, John or Joan Q Public, to air your feelings about whatever you like and if you are "lucky," your blurb will be published.

However, something here went seriously wrong.

The person(s) in charge of this section must really hate Augustans or drink a lot, as what would be a nice section about public comments is just really exploiting any moron with access to a cell phone or computer. Case in point: On Saturday, 18 June, this was the leadoff comment:

"AN ECOLOGY RANT to fitness buffs. You eat more. You exhale more carbon dioxide. You give off more heat. You waste our precious water because you drink and shower more, and you use up two outfits a day, which require washing. Many of you drive back and forth to gyms and tracks, causing more carbon dioxide. All your exertions achieve nothing but a big carbon track shoe footprint. Come split firewood for me if you want exercise."

This one isn't as bad as some, because the person who composed it is eloquent and direct. I like that. Proper spelling and grammar are always high points. However...what a moron. What was the point of this? It seems more than a little bitter, I think. So if all these things are bad, lets reverse it to get a clearer view of the author.

Doesn't eat much. Doesn't exhale. Is cold blooded, much like a turtle or a frog. Doesn't drink much water. Wears only one outfit per day and washes it sparingly. Doesn't got to a gym or track. And the clincher, is judging the carbon footprint yet admits to burning firewood. This person sounds like a catch. Well versed, you know, with ecology and supports it by burning.

This next one is from today, 19 July. This was AS PRINTED, in the Sunday paper, for the whole world to see.

TO MY NEIGHBORS that are on Section 8: You have successfully ruined my neighborhood. Your kids are thieves and have no respect for other people's property. Your yard is a mess and trash is everywhere. Could you please get a job, get your kids under control and take your weave off of the fence? (It's dry now.) Not that you can read this post.

Sorry. I forgot I left my weave there. :(

Dates, dates, dates

Today the house is being shown to prospective renters. They are friends of mine so I'm not too worried about the state of the house, and as most people know, It can never be too clean for me. Hopefully they will be interested. In other news, I'm pretty sure my last day in Augusta will be on or about September 18. So that's just a little over 2 months. Not sure when my last Starbucks date will be though...that will come soon. I'm gonna guess around Sept 1 but that's flexible.

I am going on a camping trip Aug 7-9 with some other friends and I am pretty excited about that. Then I'm going to Montana from Sept 18-24.

Off to work this morning. Bleh.

Reactivate!

Hey there!

I haven't posted on this thing in about, oh a year and a half, so I deleted all the posts (save one) and am going to relaunch this as kind of a update-info thing about my move to the UK and my journeys there.

I really don't care for myspace or endless silly updates on facebook so I thought this would be a good place to just post some stuff and, of course, be able to say all the offensive things I want and not have to worry about it. Expect lots of judgement. I'm off to work in a few minutes, so if you are interested, bookmark me and we'll see what happens. Thanks!
